Australia's Job Vacancies Increase In May
(RTTNews) - Australia's job vacancies increased in the March to May period, but at a slower pace than in the previous three months, figures from the Australian Bureau of Statistics showed Thursday.
Total job vacancies, on a seasonally adjusted basis, rose 2.5 percent in the three months to May. During three months to February, vacancies grew 2.8 percent.
On a yearly basis, job vacancies increased 2.5 percent in the March to May Period. A year ago, vacancies dipped 19.4 percent.
Compared to previous quarter, the increase in private sector job vacancies eased to 1.4 percent in May from 2.9 percent in the prior quarter. Job vacancies rose 1.9 percent compared to same period last year.
At the same time, public sector job vacancies surged 17.9 percent in the March to May period from the previous quarter and climbed 10.2 percent from the same period last year.
