COLOMBIA: Jobless Rate Rises Slightly In August On Annual Basis

(RTTNews) - Colombia's unemployment rate in August decreased to 9.1% on a monthly basis, from 9.7% in July, but increased by 0.1 percentage point when compared to the same month in 2016, said the country's statistics office.

The unemployment rate dropped due to a decline in the number of people available for work - the participation rate increased to 64.5% in August, from 63.7% in July. The employment rate rose to 58.6%, from 57.5% in the month before.

Meanwhile, the national unemployment rate for the June-August quarter was 9.2%, stable against the same period in the previous year.
