Mexico Jobless Rate Falls To 2.4%

(RTTNews) - Mexico's unemployment rate decreased in December to the lowest level in nine months, data from the National Institute of Statistics and Geography, or INEGI, showed on Wednesday.

On an unadjusted basis, the jobless rate dropped to 2.4 percent from 2.6 percent in the previous month. There were 1.5 million unemployed people in December.

Further, this was the lowest unemployment rate since March, when it was 2.3 percent.

In the corresponding month last year, the jobless rate was 2.6 percent.

The economic participation rate was 59.3 percent compared to 59.9 percent in December 2023.

On a seasonally adjusted basis, the jobless rate decreased to 2.6 percent from 2.7 percent in the prior month.
