Mexico Unemployment Rate Rises In May

(RTTNews) - Mexico's unemployment rate unexpectedly increased in May, figures from statistical office INEGI showed Monday.

The unadjusted unemployment rate rose to 4.92 percent in May from 4.84 percent in April. Economists had forecast a 4.80 percent jobless rate for May.

The jobless rate climbed for a third successive month. A year ago, the rate was 4.93 percent.

On a seasonally adjusted basis, the unemployment rate moved up to 5.00 percent in May from 4.90 percent in the previous month. In March, the rate was 5.25 percent.
