New Zealand CPI Falls 0.2% In Q4
(RTTNews) - Consumer prices in New Zealand were down 0.2 percent on quarter in the fourth quarter of 2014, Statistics New Zealand said on Wednesday.
That missed expectations for a flat reading following three straight quarters of 0.3 percent gain.
Petrol prices fell 5.7 percent, making the largest downward contribution, while vegetable prices (down 14 percent) showed a smaller-than-usual seasonal fall.
On a yearly basis, consumer prices climbed 0.8 percent - also below forecasts for 0.9 percent and down from 1.0 percent in the previous three months.
