Poland's Producer Prices Fall Further

(RTTNews) - Poland's producer prices declined further at a faster than expected pace in July, the Central Statistical Office showed Wednesday.

The producer price index slid 1.7 percent on a yearly basis in July, bigger than the 1.4 percent decrease seen in June. Prices were forecast to drop by 1.6 percent.

Producer prices in mining and quarrying fell sharply by 5.8 percent and that in manufacturing dropped 2 percent. Meanwhile, prices in the utility sector gained 1 percent.

On a monthly basis, producer prices decreased 0.4 percent, reversing a 0.6 percent rise a month ago. Economists had forecast prices to remain flat in July.
