S&P Affirms Vietnam's Sovereign Ratings

(RTTNews) - Standard & Poor's affirmed the credit ratings of Vietnam at 'BB-' citing country's lower middle-income, rising debt burden and banking sector weakness.

Nonetheless, its external settings are sound, reflecting rising foreign exchange reserves and a modest external debt burden, the agency noted.

The financial and technical assistance Vietnam receives from donors as a rating strength. Vietnam's fiscal settings are becoming stretched but its external metrics are adequate.

The stable outlook indicates that Vietnam's growth prospects will continue to improve, leading to gains in its key economic, fiscal, external, and monetary credit measures.
