AB InBev Reportedly Plans To Sell SABMiller's Peroni, Grolsch Brands

(RTTNews) - Belgian brewer Anheuser-Busch InBev NV, or AB InBev (BUD, AHBIF.PK) plans to sell two of British brewer SABMiller Plc.'s (SAB.L, SABMRY.PK) best-known beer brands, Grolsch and Peroni, as the world's largest brewer seeks to ease European regulatory concerns over its pending acquisition of SABMiller, the Sunday Times reported citing people familiar with the matter. No deal has been struck and a sale isn't certain.

The report indicated that rights to the Peroni and Grolsch brands in the U.S. will remain with MillerCoors LLC.

Earlier this month, Anheuser-Busch InBev formalized the offer to acquire SABMiller in a deal worth 71 billion pounds or about $107 billion. In a related deal, in order to avoid antitrust fears, SABMiller agreed to sell its 58 percent stake in its joint venture with MillerCoors to Molson Coors Brewing Co. (TAP-A, TAP) for $12 billion in cash.
