About.com Names Senior Marketing and Editorial Appointments

About.com, one of the 15 most visited Web sites in the U.S., announced that Peter Weingard has joined About.com as vice president, marketing and Susan Hahn as director, community. "Both Peter and Susan bring extensive experience and credentials to About.com that will enable us to better capitalize on our brand by leveraging relationships with existing users and advertisers while developing strategies to target new ones,” said Scott Meyer, president and CEO, About.com. At About.com, Peter Weingard provides the company’s executive team with guidance in marketing strategy and leads brand-building communication initiatives directed at consumers, advertising sales customers, public relations targets and internal audiences. Prior to joining About.com, Mr. Weingard was director of digital marketing solutions for The New York Times. There, he built and managed a multimedia marketing team that, among other projects, created 'Times On Air'™, an original and exclusive in-flight video magazine presented by the JetBlue Card from American Express. He has also held positions at Clear Channel Entertainment, where he was vice president of database marketing, and Iron Street Labs. He has a B.A. in communications from Pace University and an M.A. in marketing from New York University. As director of community at About.com, Susan Hahn is responsible for building user engagement and community across About.com’s more than 600 GuideSites. She brings with her almost twenty years of media industry experience. Most recently, Ms. Hahn was vice president, community & customer support for iVillage. There, she was oversaw community management and programming, and new community product launches, including iVillage’s photo galleries and social network.
