Ahead Of Aéropostale's Q3 Results

(RTTNews) - Teen apparel retailer Aéropostale Inc. (ARO) is scheduled to release its third-quarter numbers after the bell on Wednesday, December 2, 2015.

The company projects third-quarter adjusted net loss in the range of $0.30 - $0.38 per share. Analysts polled by Thomson Reuters currently expect the company to report a loss of $0.35 per share on revenue of $392.67 million for the quarter.

Operating loss for the third quarter is expected to be in the range of $19 million - $25 million. This guidance assumes a low single digit decline in comparable sales.

Internationally, Aéropostale continues to expand at a solid pace. Most recently, the company announced additional expansion plans in Asia and the EMEA region. Through two new licensing agreements, the company will launch in Thailand and Egypt over the next five years.

The company has been encouraged by its progress during the initial part of the Back-To-School season, especially the significant improvement in its girls business. Aeropostale's third-quarter guidance reflects a continuation of the momentum it generated in the second quarter. This guidance indicates a significant reduction in operating loss versus last year.

The company's second-quarter net loss was $43.7 million or $0.55 per share, compared to a loss of $63.3 million or $0.81 per share for the year-ago quarter. Excluding items, adjusted net loss for the latest quarter was $44.8 million or $0.56 per share, compared to an adjusted net loss of $36.0 million or $0.46 per share in the same quarter of last year.

Net sales for the second quarter fell 17% to $326.9 million from $396.2 million in the prior year quarter.

Analysts expected a loss of $0.55 per share on revenue of $335.67 million for the second quarter. Analysts' estimates typically exclude certain special items.

Comparable sales, including the e-commerce channel, for the second quarter of fiscal 2015 decreased 8%, compared to a decrease of 13% for the year-ago period.
