    NORWALK, Ohio--(BUSINESS WIRE)--April 4, 2005--Airspan Networks, Inc. (Nasdaq:AIRN), a leading provider of broadband wireless solutions, and Wireless Connections, a leading provider of fully integrated broadband data, Internet, voice telecommunications, and wireless deployment services, announced a successful implementation of Airspan equipment in a major security and terrorism prevention operation at this year's Super Bowl.
    The University of South Florida's Center for Ocean Technology (COT), in conjunction with the US Coast Guard, the Jacksonville Florida Sheriff's Department, and the Super Bowl Security Task Force, worked with DTNet, a Florida company, and Wireless Connections to deploy Airspan 700 MHz wireless equipment to perform underwater scanning and mapping of the Port of Jacksonville and the St John's River. Two boats, one from the State of Florida's Institute of Oceanography and the other from the United States Geological Survey, were equipped with radar and sonar equipment to complete the scans prior to the arrival of cruise ships for the Super Bowl.
    Communications between the two surveillance ships and the law enforcement agencies were enhanced with the use of the high-speed wireless equipment from Airspan that was provided by Wireless Connections. "We were able to connect securely via the Internet to the Office of Naval Research, the Pentagon, the FBI and other security agencies. Personnel from these agencies were able to view live video, sonar, radar and a moving map display simultaneously over the secure wireless and Internet link at several remote locations," said Steve Untiedt, COT's Assistant Operations Director.
