Alaska Air Group Combined Jan. Traffic Up, But Load Factor Down - Quick Facts

(RTTNews) - Alaska Air Group Inc. (ALK) reported January 2014 operational results for its subsidiaries, Alaska Airlines and Horizon Air, and on a combined basis. On a combined basis, Air Group posted a 3.4 percent improvement in traffic on a 3.9 percent capacity growth compared with January 2013. This resulted in a decline in load factor of 0.3 points, to 82.4 percent.

The company said these statistics include flights operated by Alaska and those under capacity purchase agreements, including Horizon, SkyWest and PenAir.

January traffic, measured in revenue passenger miles or RPMs, was 2.31 billion, up 3.4%, compared with last year's 2.24 billion. Capacity, measured in available seat miles or ASMs, grew 3.9% year-on-year to 2.81 billion, from 2.7 billion a year ago.

However, passenger load factor for the month edged down by 0.3 points to 82.4% from $82.7% in January 2013.
