Alaska Air Group May Traffic And Capacity Rise, But Load Factor Down

(RTTNews) - Alaska Air Group, Inc. (ALK) reported a 10.4 percent increase in traffic for May 2015 to 2.795 billion revenue passenger miles, while capacity expressed in available seat miles climbed 12.0 percent to 3.306 billion. Passenger load factor was down 1.2 points at 84.5 percent. These statistics include flights operated by Alaska and those under capacity purchase agreements, including Horizon, SkyWest and PenAir.

Alaska Airlines reported a 10.3 percent increase in traffic on a 12.1 percent increase in capacity compared to May 2014. Load factor decreased 1.4 points to 84.8 percent. Alaska also reported 88.0 percent of its flights arrived on time in May, compared to 89.7 percent reported in May 2014.

Horizon Air reported a 9.6 percent increase in traffic on a 9.0 percent increase in capacity compared to May 2014. This resulted in a 0.3 point increase in load factor to a May record of 80.5 percent. Horizon also reported 90.2 percent of its flights arrived on time in May, compared to the 93.0 percent reported in May 2014.
