Alaska Air July Traffic, Capacity Up 7% - Quick Facts

(RTTNews) - Alaska Air Group Inc. (ALK) announced July 2014 operational results for its subsidiaries, Alaska Airlines and Horizon Air, and on a combined basis. On a combined basis, Air Group reported a 7.0 percent growth in traffic on a 7.0 percent increase in capacity compared with July 2013. As a result, monthly load factor of 88.6 percent, was consistent with the year-ago month.

These statistics include flights operated by Alaska and those under capacity purchase agreements, including Horizon, SkyWest and PenAir.

Combined traffic, measured in revenue passenger miles or RPMs, for the month increased by 7 percent to 2.96 billion, from 2.77 billion last year. Combined monthly capacity, measured in available seat miles or ASMs, also grew by 7 percent to 3.34 billion from last year's 3.12 billion ASMs.

Alaska reported a 6.3 percent rise in traffic on a 6.1 percent growth in capacity, versus July 2013. This resulted in a 0.1 point increase in load factor to a record 89.0 percent.
