Alaska Air Traffic Rises 4.8% In May - Quick Facts

(RTTNews) - Alaska Air Group Inc. (ALK) reported May operational results for its subsidiaries, Alaska Airlines and Horizon Air, and also on a combined basis. On a combined basis, Air Group reported 4.8 percent rise in traffic, on a 5.1 percent increase in capacity, compared with May 2013. As a result, load factor was down 0.3 points to 85.7 percent.

Traffic for the month was 178 million revenue passenger miles or RPMs, compared with 180 million RPMs, a year ago. Capacity was 2.95 million available seat miles or ASMs, up 5.1 percent from 2.80 million ASMs last year.

Alaska Airlines reported a 4.4 percent rise in traffic on a 4.6 percent increase in capacity compared with May 2013. This resulted in a 0.3 point decrease in load factor to 86.2 percent.

Horizon, on the other hand, reported a 1.1 percent decrease in May traffic, on a 0.9 percent decrease in capacity, resulting in a 0.2 point decrease in load factor to 80.2 percent
