Alaska Air With New Flights From Portland To East Coast

(RTTNews) - Alaska Airlines Wednesday announced new flights from Rose City to four new markets, including Baltimore, Milwaukee, Philadelphia and Albuquerque.

The airline will start new seasonal flights from Portland to Philadelphia on May 22, Portland to Milwaukee, Wisconsin on June 5, and to Baltimore on June 6. New nonstop year-round service between Portland-Albuquerque will start on August 18.

John Kirby, Alaska's vice president of capacity planning, said, "We're super excited to launch four new nonstop daily routes from Portland, further enhancing our offerings for our guests in the Rose City. At 55 nonstop destinations and counting, we continue to connect our valued Portland customers to the places they want to go."

Alaska Air noted that flights to Philadelphia and Baltimore will be operated with fuel-efficient Boeing 737 aircraft. Flights between Portland and Milwaukee will be operated by SkyWest Airlines and flights between Portland and Albuquerque will be operated by Horizon Air.

Both carriers will serve the routes with 76-seat E175 jets, which feature 12 seats in first class, 12 seats in premium class and 52 seats in the main cabin. The E175 boasts cabin dimensions on par with a narrow-body jet.

The company said the tickets for the new routes will go on sale starting Wednesday.

David Zielke, Port of Portland director of air service development, said, "We're happy that Alaska is once again expanding its network from PDX with four new service announcements. Albuquerque, Baltimore and Philadelphia offer Portland-area travelers more convenient nonstop options. And, until now, Milwaukee was one of the top 10 markets to which Portland didn't have nonstop service."
