Alliance Data Q1 Results Beat Estimates; Backs FY17 View - Quick Facts

(RTTNews) - Alliance Data Systems Corp. (ADS), a provider of data-driven marketing and loyalty solutions, reported Thursday that its first-quarter net income fell 8 percent to $146 million from $159 million last year. Earnings per share, however, grew 10 percent to $2.58 from $2.35 last year, with 6 percent drop in share count.

Core earnings per share were $3.91, compared to $3.84 last year.

Revenues increased 12 percent to $1.88 billion from $1.68 billion a year ago.

On average, analysts polled by Thomson Reuters expected earnings of $3.86 per share for the quarter on revenues of $1.81 billion. Analysts' estimates typically exclude special items.

For fiscal 2017, the company continues to expect revenue of $7.7 billion and core earnings per share of $18.50.

Analysts expect earnings of $18.49 per share on revenues of $7.71 billion for the year.

Ed Heffernan, president and chief executive officer of Alliance Data, said, "Overall, our outlook for full-year 2017 results remains consistent, and all indications continue to support our belief that a significant acceleration (or what I refer to as a "slingshot") will occur in our core EPS growth rate as we move into the back-half of 2017, and throughout 2018."
