Alloy Media + Marketing Forge Laundry-based Media Partnership with Mac-Gray Corporation

Alloy Media + Marketing, a pioneer in nontraditional media and marketing services with focus towards the youth market, and Mac-Gray Corporation, the nation’s largest laundry facilities contractor for colleges and universities, today announced an exclusive partnership to extend Alloy’s out of media advertising network into Mac-Gray’s extensive laundry room accounts in over 550 colleges nationwide. The branded "Laundry Boards” program officially launches in November with the National Guard as its premier advertiser. A total of 1600 wall mounted advertising boards will be implemented in laundry facilities managed by Mac-Gray, reaching over two million students across the country. The deal broadens Alloy Media + Marketing’s well-established proprietary network of out-of-home media assets across more than 1,000 college campuses. Alloy’s campus media network offers advertisers unparalleled reach through media placement in student unions, bookstores, athletic facilities, residence halls and Greek system housing, with the benefit of Alloy’s strong relationships with college administrators. "We are extremely excited to expand our campus network to a new environment that is clearly a part of a college student’s daily ritual,” said Derek White, EVP, Alloy Media + Marketing. "The opportunity to partner with Mac-Gray in bringing this powerful advertising medium to this captive space allows us to widen the scope for advertisers seeking to connect with this demographic in all the relevant spaces that make up their campus experience.” Sheff Halsey, VP Marketing for Mac-Gray, commented, "We are very pleased to establish this relationship with Alloy, a company that has clearly distinguished themselves in the campus media space.” ”We know that there is a growing number of students using our facilities on campus, generating over 16 million laundry wash cycles during the school year in these spaces. We believe offering entertaining and informative content and advertising will be a welcome addition to this environment.” Alloy Media + Marketing and Mac-Gray plan to expand the "Laundry Boards” program through military and multicultural markets across the companies’ existing networks following the initial phase of the agreement. Mac-Gray staff will support Alloy Media + Marketing on each campus to ensure timely and efficient implementation of programming and to provide proof of performance for advertising partners. "The addition of "Laundry Boards” to our campus media offerings signifies important growth to Alloy’s leading network of out-of-home media assets reaching the influential college market, an audience wielding a record $182 billion dollars in spending power and representing the largest class in history, as reported in Alloy’s 2006 College Explorer study,” White concluded. ”We look forward to providing brands with this captive addition to our marketing mix and connecting them to this extremely lucrative audience.” About Alloy Media + Marketing Alloy Media + Marketing is one of the country’s largest providers of nontraditional targeted media and promotional marketing programs connecting with 85% of the millennial audience (ages 5 - 29) daily. About Mac-Gray Mac-Gray is North America’s premier laundry facilities contractor and a provider of other amenities to the multi-housing industry. We also are the nation’s largest laundry facilities contractor for colleges and universities, operating on approximately 550 campuses. Our overall goal is to set the highest standards in the industry for our growing base of customers in multi-housing facilities that include apartment buildings, college residence halls, condominiums and public housing facilities. Mac-Gray enjoys many competitive advantages; one of the most important of which is our innovative use of proprietary technology. In the 1990s, the company introduced Smart Card technology to our industry, giving consumers the largest cashless washer and dryer system in North America. This initiative led to our Intelligent Laundry Systems™ suite of services, which is designed to simplify and modernize doing laundry, both from the point of view of the resident and the property manager or owner. Founded in 1927, Mac-Gray derives its revenue principally through the contracting of card- and coin-operated laundry facilities in multiple housing facilities such as apartment buildings, college and university residence halls, condominiums and public housing complexes. Mac-Gray contracts its laundry rooms under long-term leases. These leases typically grant Mac-Gray exclusive contract rights to laundry rooms on the lessor's premises for a fixed term, which is generally seven to 10 years, in exchange for a negotiated portion of the revenue collected. Mac-Gray serves approximately 63,000 multi-housing laundry rooms located in 40 states and the District of Columbia.
