Alpha Natural Resources Posts Loss In Q2 - Quick Facts

(RTTNews) - Alpha Natural Resources Inc. (ANR) reported a second quarter net loss of $186 million or $0.84 per share, compared to a net loss of $2.2 billion or $10.14 per share in the second quarter of 2012 which included approximately $2.5 billion of pre-tax impairment and restructuring charges. Excluding items, the second quarter 2013 adjusted net loss was $129 million or $0.59 per share for the quarter.

On average, 24 analysts polled by Thomson Reuters expected the company to report a loss of $0.59 per share, for the quarter. Analysts' estimates typically exclude special items.

Coal revenues were $1.12 billion, compared to $1.57 billion, last year.

Total revenues decreased to $1.335 billion, from $1.848 billion last year. Analysts expected revenue of $1.24 billion for the quarter.
