Anthem, Inc. Q2 Income Advances 5%

(RTTNews) - Anthem, Inc. (ANTM) released earnings for its second quarter that increased compared to the same period last year.

The company said its bottom line climbed to $893.4 million, or $3.33 per share. This was up from $850.5 million, or $3.10 per share, in last year's second quarter.

Analysts had expected the company to earn $3.23 per share, according figures compiled by Thomson Reuters. Analysts' estimates typically exclude special items.

The company said revenue for the quarter rose 7.6% to $21.27 billion. This was up from $19.76 billion last year.
