Assurant Inc Q4 Income Drops 35%

(RTTNews) - Assurant Inc (AIZ) announced earnings for fourth quarter that retreated compared to the same period last year.

The company said its bottom line dropped to $65.3 million, or $0.97 per share. This was lower than $99.8 million, or $1.38 per share, in last year's fourth quarter.

Analysts had expected the company to earn $1.51 per share, according figures compiled by Thomson Reuters. Analysts' estimates typically exclude special items.

The company said revenue for the quarter fell 2.7% to $2.55 billion. This was down from $2.62 billion last year.
