Canadian Stocks Make Comeback To Extend Win Streak -- Canadian Commentary
(RTTNews) - Canadian stocks nudged higher Thursday, bouncing back from early weakness as markets remained calm a week after the landmark Brexit vote.
Lower commodity prices failed to keep Toronto's main index from a thrid straight daily advance.
The S&P/TSX Composite Index was up 27.80 points, or 0.20 percent, to 14,064. Gauges of most sectors were in the green.
Financial stocks were a bit weaker, but energy shares inched up despite lower crude oil prices.
August WTI oil settled at $48.33/bbl on Nymex, down $1.55, or 3.1%.
In economic news, Statistics Canada said the Canadian economy grew by 0.1 percent in April after declining the two previous months.
