Central Garden & Pet Earnings Advance In Q1

(RTTNews) - Central Garden & Pet (CENTA) revealed a profit for its first quarter that gained ground compared to the same period last year.

The company said its bottom line totaled $9.90 million, or $0.19 per share. This was up from $6.32 million, or $0.12 per share, in last year's first quarter.

Analysts had expected the company to earn $0.15 per share, according figures compiled by Thomson Reuters. Analysts' estimates typically exclude special items.

The company said revenue for the quarter rose 5.4% to $442.01 million. This was up from $419.50 million last year.
