Century Aluminum Profit Tops Estimates; Stock Up
(RTTNews) - Century Aluminum Co (CENX) on Thursday reported first-quarter net earnings of $73.8 million or $0.76 per share compared with a loss of $20 million or $0.23 per share last year.
Analysts polled by Thomson Reuters estimated earnings of $0.63 per share for the quarter. Analysts' estimates typically exclude special items.
Results for the quarter included, among other items, $0.07 per share for an unrealized gain on fair value of contingent consideration related to the acquisition of the remaining 50.3% interest of Mt. Holly.
Revenues for the quarter were $587.9 million compared with $420.8 million in the prior year. Analysts estimated revenues of $579.9 million.
