Century Aluminum Results Top Estimate - Quick Facts

(RTTNews) - Century Aluminum Co (CENX) Wednesday reported second-quarter net earnings of $20 million or $0.21 per share, compared with a loss of $29.4 million or $0.33 per share last year.

Revenue for the quarter was $458 million, compared with $332 million in the prior year.

Analysts polled by Thomson Reuters projected earnings of $0.18 per share on revenue of $441.7 million for the quarter. Analysts' estimates typically exclude special items.

The company benefited from on higher aluminum prices and lower power prices in the Midwestern U.S.

Shipments of primary aluminum for the quarter were 216,044 tonnes, compared with 176,270 tonnes a year ago.
