Chunghwa Telecom Q1 Profit, Revenue Down

(RTTNews) - Taiwan-based telecommunications services company Chunghwa Telecom Co., Ltd. (CHT) Thursday reported that its first-quarter net income attributable to stockholders of the parent slid by 17.7 percent to NT$9.61 billion, and earnings per share fell 17.3 percent to NT$1.24.

Income from operations for the quarter decreased 16.3 percent to NT$11.53 billion. The operating margin was 21.1 percent, as compared to 24.2 percent a year ago.

Chunghwa's total revenues for the first quarter slid 4.2 percent to NT$54.53 billion. Mobile communications revenue was down by 5.3 percent, while internet business revenue was up 3.8 percent year-over-year. Domestic fixed revenue slid 5.4 percent, and International fixed revenue declined 12.5 percent.
