NEW YORK--(BUSINESS WIRE)--Feb. 8, 2005--
Solution Incorporates Real-time Billing Capabilities To Attract New Market Segments Such As Family Plans And Enterprise Packages
Comverse, a unit of Comverse Technology, Inc. (NASDAQ: CMVT), and the world's leading supplier of software and systems enabling network-based multimedia enhanced communication services, today announced the availability of Real-time Billing Solutions 4.6, which provides operators with the ability to offer personalized and flexible family and enterprise plan packages, by leveraging the capabilities of a real-time solution. The new solution also integrates Comverse's Multiple Identities(TM) software, a feature that enables a subscriber to separate their personal and business lives while maintaining a single number and a single handset.
Comverse's Real-time Billing Solutions 4.6 provides subscribers with the power of personalization by tailoring a billing package that is appropriate for their type of use. The new Real-time Billing Solutions 4.6 offers carriers a simple, responsive and adaptable billing solution that manages risk in real-time and is designed to enhance overall carrier revenue generation.
With the Multiple Identities solution, a subscriber is able to enjoy the benefits of multiple independent accounts with discrete service plans on a single handset.
Howard Woolf, President of Comverse's Real-Time Billing Division, said, "While employers provide their staffs with modern handsets, many of them do not permit the use of data/content services. This restriction translates into lost revenue for the operators. By using Comverse's Multiple Identities solution, employees could switch to personal accounts with the press of a button, allowing them to use data and content services on their personal accounts. This capability enables companies to control the way employees use their phones, while allowing employees the freedom to use the enhanced services available on their handsets at their own expense. The solution also has other practical uses, such as enabling parents to manage their children's usage and communications expenditure."
Real-time Billing Solutions 4.6 benefits enterprises by offering cost efficiency, risk and account management functionality and personalized accounts bundled with Virtual Private Network (VPN) services.
Family plan users also benefit through the elimination of frustrations related to excessive use, by being able to take advantage of discount opportunities based on combined usage of the entire family, and by obtaining a single invoice for viewing the spending habits of all family members included in the billing plan. With Comverse's Real-time Billing Solutions 4.6, the group manager actively manages, defines and adjusts a set of shared balances.
"For example, a parent can give one child a monthly allowance of 100 family talk minutes and 20 SMS messages. A corporation may give their employees a set allowance of anytime minutes, but unlimited calling to others within the company. In either case, usage of the group is tracked in real-time and incentives can be sent to the family or corporation when they near an award threshold," continued Woolf.
"In selecting a solutions provider, we were searching for a flexible system that would meet our extensive billing needs," said Jean-Claude Bintz, Co-CEO and Director of VOXmobile, a 3G operator in Luxembourg. "Comverse provided us with the flexibility to custom tailor a real-time billing solution, as opposed to our having to select a pre-fabricated system that required expensive customization."
"Comverse has risen to the challenge and created a billing solution that can bring real-time control to group plans," said Pascal Koster, Co-CEO and Director at VOXmobile. "The company's consistent approach to billing and overall experience in the market allowed us to create efficient family plans and enterprise accounts that are unlike that of any other carrier."
"Comverse's Real-time Billing Solutions 4.6 uniquely empowers the end user by offering enhanced control and real-time information updates on personal and group account spending," said Paul Hughes, Director, Billing and Payment Application Strategies at market research firm Yankee Group. "The account owner can thus manage all accounts in real-time with no surprises. Carriers can now tap a growing legion of families and enterprise users who have an increased need to manage wireless spending. Comverse's Real-time Billing Solutions 4.6 brings the end-users' optimization of usage within a group to a whole new level."
