Eaton Corporation Elects Yannis P. Tsavalas Vice President and Chief Technology Officer

    CLEVELAND--(BUSINESS WIRE)--Feb. 4, 2005--Diversified industrial manufacturer Eaton Corporation (NYSE:ETN) today announced that Yannis P. Tsavalas has been elected vice president and chief technology officer, effective February 14, 2005.
    Tsavalas will lead the company's Innovation Center and be responsible for driving engineering research and development synergies across Eaton's businesses. He succeeds Craig A. Black, who was named vice president, Electrical Components Operations, in Eaton's electrical business late last year. Tsavalas will report to Randy W. Carson, senior vice president and group executive - electrical, and will be located at Eaton's world headquarters in Cleveland.

"His track record of remarkable accomplishments in product innovations, technology programs and global engineering solutions makes Yannis the clear choice for this role.     Tsavalas joins Eaton from General Electric, where he was chief technology officer for GE Lighting and general manager, Global Lighting Technology, GE Consumer and Industrial. He began his GE career in 1987 and served in engineering and technical roles with significant impact across multiple businesses. Tsavalas also served with GE as the general manager for Global Products and the general manager for High Output Products.
    Prior to joining GE, Tsavalas held engineering positions with Intermagnetics General in Latham, NY, the Shipbuilding Division of General Dynamics, the Ministry of Defense in Kent, England and Velvet Weaving in Athens, Greece.
    Tsavalas has a M.S. in Applied Mechanics from the University of Manchester Institute of Science and Technology, Manchester, England and a B.S.-Hon in Mechanical Engineering from Kingston Polytechnic, Kingston Upon Thames, England.
