Edison Int'l Profit Tops Street; Guides FY EPS Above Consensus - Quick Facts
(RTTNews) - Electric utility Edison International (EIX) Tuesday reported fourth-quarter net earnings to stockholders of $301 million or $0.92 per share, compared with net loss of $539 million or $1.65 per share last year.
Results for the recent quarter included $37 million of earnings from discontinued operations while the prior-year quarter had $1.1 billion of charges and losses from discontinued operations.
Excluding items, core earnings for the quarter were $264 million or $0.81 per share compared with core earnings $582 million or $1.79 per share a year ago.
Revenues for the quarter were $2.94 billion compared with $3.06 billion in the prior year.
Analysts polled by Thomson Reuters estimated earnings of $0.67 per share on revenues of $2.59 billion for the quarter. Analysts' estimates typically exclude special items.
Looking ahead to fiscal 2014, the company expects core earnings of $3.60 to $3.80 per share. Analysts expect earnings of $3.60 per share.
