Encana Q3 Profit Surges - Quick Facts

(RTTNews) - Canadian energy producer Encana Corp. (ECA.TO, ECA) reported that its third-quarter net earnings attributable to common shareholders surged to $2.8 billion from last year's $188 million. Earnings per share for the current quarter was $3.79.

Operating earnings for the latest third quarter rose to $281 million or $0.38 per share, from $150 million or $$0.20 per share in the comparable quarter last year. Analysts polled by Thomson Reuters expected the company to report earnings of $0.52 per share for the quarter. Analysts' estimates typically exclude special items.

Cash flow for the quarter was $807 million or $1.09 per share, up from $660 million or $0.89 per share in the prior year period.

On November 11, 2014, Encana's Board declared a dividend of $0.07 per share payable on December 31, 2014, to common shareholders of record as of December 15, 2014.
