Foundry Networks and Avaya Conduct Joint VoIP Seminar at Interop Las Vegas

LAS VEGAS, May 1 /PRNewswire-FirstCall/ -- Foundry Networks(R) Inc. , a performance and total solutions leader for end-to-end switching and routing, and Avaya , a leading global provider of business communications applications, systems and services, today announced they will conduct a joint voice over IP (VoIP) seminar entitled, "Answering the Call -- VoIP in the Enterprise," during Interop Las Vegas 2006. The free seminar is scheduled for Tuesday, May 2, at 11:15 a.m. in Ballroom L at the Mandalay Bay Convention Center.

Panel speakers Bob Schiff, vice president and general manager, enterprise business unit for Foundry Networks, and Eric Rossman, vice president, developer relations and technical alliances, Avaya, will address how businesses can minimize risk and maximize the upside when converging their voice and data networks and use Intelligent Communications applications as a competitive advantage and differentiator.

In addition to taking an in-depth look at how to design a secure, reliable, scalable and high-performance converged network, Schiff and Rossman will explore the powerful new possibilities unleashed when converged and integrated communications, Ethernet infrastructure and business processes are enabled by open-standards based solutions and disciplined best practices.

In related news, on April 10, 2006 Foundry Networks announced that its FastIron(R) SuperX(TM) and FastIron(R) Edge product families are now fully compliant with Internet protocol (IP) telephony solutions from Avaya, providing businesses with a proven, high-quality, voice-ready solution for their converged infrastructure. Foundry Networks is a member of the Avaya DeveloperConnection Program -- an initiative to promote the development, compliance-testing and co-marketing of innovative third-party products that are compatible with standards-based Avaya solutions.

"Today's businesses are finding that Intelligent Communications applications can set them apart from the competition and deliver new value to their bottom line by helping them link employees and customers to critical information, regardless of where they are based or what communications device they prefer to use," said Eric Rossman, vice president, developer relations and technical alliances, Avaya. "The key is to break free of the constraints imposed by proprietary technology and to underpin enterprise networks with an open, multivendor architecture and applications that meet the individual needs of their business."

"Enterprises are implementing converged infrastructures at an accelerated rate," said Bob Schiff, vice president and general manager, enterprise business unit for Foundry Networks. "It is important that they understand how to build networks to achieve the full benefits of a converged voice over IP solution that delivers the quality of service, resilience, security, scalability and application performance that are fundamental to high- performance. Seminar attendees will learn about the key issues to address and the best practices for implementing a next-generation network using best-in- class Ethernet and voice over IP solutions."
