Hartford Q2 Profit Tops Estimate

(RTTNews) - The Hartford Financial Services Group, Inc. (HIG) reported net income for the second quarter of $413 million or $0.96 per share, compared to a net loss of $467 million or $1.00 per share for the year-ago quarter.

Excluding items, core earnings for the second quarter were $389 million or $0.91 per share, compared to $144 million or $0.31 per share in the prior year quarter.

Total revenue for the second quarter rose to $4.69 billion from $4.62 billion a year earlier.

Analysts polled by Thomson Reuters expected the company to earn $0.77 per share on revenue of $4.70 billion for the second quarter. Analysts' estimates typically exclude special items.
