Intergraph Helps Federal German Border Guards Fight International Terrorism Interoperable Public Safety Command and Control Solution to Manage Emergencies
Intergraph (NASDAQ:INGR) Public Safety today announced that the Federal German Border Guards, responsible for providing public safety at airports, railways, federal borderlines to other countries, and on the high seas, has successfully deployed 15 of 24 sites throughout the country with Intergraph Public Safety's Command and Control system. The nine remaining sites will be phased in and deployed by end-of-year 2006.
Intergraph will implement its computer aided dispatch (CAD) and automatic vehicle location (AVL) solution, enabling the German Border Guards to more efficiently use their staff and vehicles. The CAD digital map will assist officers in performing more effective manhunts; shorten police response times; and alert units and additional staff without any loss of time and information. On final phased-implementation, the total 24 sites will include 350 CAD seats and 1000 AVL-equipped vehicles.
"The Federation of the German Border Guards is a modern police force that makes an essential contribution to homeland security. Maintenance and improvement of the technical equipment of the federal police is a permanent objective of the government in the fight against international terrorism. The necessary budget funds were provided at an early stage. The new Command and Control system will improve the efficiency of the Federal Border Guards and motivate staff," said Mr. Rudolf Koerper, State Secretary.
Ben Eazzetta, president of Intergraph Public Safety, said, "Intergraph's proven command and control system, as implemented in several critical U.S. facilities, including Fort Bragg, North Carolina, Los Alamos National Laboratory in New Mexico, Fort Jackson, South Carolina, Norfolk Naval Base, Virginia, and the Naval District of Washington, D.C., will improve public safety response and awareness throughout Germany. We're honored to aid the German Border Guards in their continued contributions to homeland security."
