Jefferies Expands Private Equity Fund Placement Team

Jefferies International Limited, a subsidiary of US-based Jefferies Group, Inc. (NYSE: JEF), today announced that its UK affiliate, Helix Associates Limited, a leading private equity fund placement agent, has expanded its capabilities with the hiring of Clive Norton as a Managing Director in the firm’s London office. Mr. Norton has extensive experience in private equity, including fundraising, with Goldman Sachs and previously with Merrill Lynch. Mr. Norton has nearly 30 years of experience in financial services. He retired from Goldman Sachs in September 2006 as Co-Head of the Private Equity Group's European operations and is continuing as a consultant to that firm through January 2007. During his four-year tenure as Head of Product Management for Europe and Asia at that firm, the Private Equity Group greatly strengthened its franchise in Japan, Australia and Europe. Prior to that position, Mr. Norton was a Managing Director in the Private Equity Group at Merrill Lynch, which he joined in 1998. He previously spent 11 years with Smith, New Court and Merrill Lynch in Japan and India. Mr. Norton is a graduate of New College, Oxford. At Helix Associates in London, Mr. Norton will be responsible for the generation and coordination of mandates, working closely with the London-based geographic teams. He will also be responsible for the Firm’s activities in the Nordic Region, where he has extensive knowledge and long-standing relationships. As part of the firm’s expansion, Helix recently added Wanda Felton as a Managing Director in New York. Ms. Felton has extensive experience, with more than 13 years of private equity fundraising in the US offices of Credit Suisse and Hamilton Lane, among others. Since joining forces with Jefferies in May of 2005, clients of Helix Associates have closed on nine funds, raising over US$9.5 billion.
