Juniper Unveils OCX1100 - Quick Facts

(RTTNews) - Juniper Networks (JNPR) Wednesday introduced its OCX1100, the first switch to combine Open Compute Project or OCP hardware design with a carrier-class network operating system, Junos OS.

The new switch will be available in the first quarter of 2015. It provides customers who build large and massive scale data centers with an open, cost-effective, disaggregated switching platform.

According to the company, combining Junos OS with OCP submitted hardware delivers a unique solution that removes the burden of support, installation and maintenance from cloud providers while delivering on the promise of an open source hardware design.

Separately, Juniper and VMware, engaged in virtualization and cloud infrastructure, have kick-started a joint Asia Pacific or APAC strategy to accelerate the adoption of private cloud solutions by enterprises across Asia Pacific.

This follows last year's expansion of the two companies' global technology partnership to deliver joint marketing and sales activities and interoperable products to support integration of the VMware NSX network virtualization platform with Juniper Networks' MetaFabric architecture for virtualized data center networking in APAC.
