Krans Named President, Publisher of Gannett's Palm Springs, CA Newspaper

Michelle M. Krans today was named president andpublisher of The Desert Sun in Palm Springs, CA, said SueClark-Johnson, president-designate of the Newspaper Division ofGannett Co., Inc. (NYSE:GCI).

"Michelle brings a passion for the newspaper business combinedwith a real interest in helping the communities we serve,"Clark-Johnson said. "She has a thorough knowledge of the market and isprepared to lead this newspaper for years to come. I am very pleasedMichelle will be running Palm Springs."

Krans replaces Robert Dickey, who last week was named senior grouppresident of the Pacific Newspaper Group and chairman of PhoenixNewspapers.

Krans has been Advertising and Marketing director of The DesertSun since 2001. She began her Gannett career at the Palm Springsnewspaper as the Marketing and Promotions manager in 1990. She alsohas served as Market Development manager; Custom Publishing managerand Market Development director at the paper. From 1985 to 1990, shewas with McCord Insurance Services in Studio City, CA.
