LexisNexis Tax Center Adds Exclusive State Tax Insights

LexisNexis U.S., a leading provider of information and services solutions, today introduced LexisNexis® Practice Insights for exclusive online access to state-specific tax analysis that is written by respected and experienced practicing tax experts across the country. Available on the award-winning LexisNexis® Tax Center product, Practice Insights give users access to expertise from tax professionals practicing at leading firms, including Deloitte, Winston & Strawn, Baker & McKenzie, and McDermott Will & Emery, among others. These experts deliver tips and real-world insights into complex state tax issues across 10 states, with more content and states available in 2007. Whether in a corporation or accounting firm, tax professionals dealing with these states can now easily access Practice Insights for experienced guidance and tax tips not previously available. "The lineup of tax professional authors in the LexisNexis Practice Insights network is really remarkable,” said Charles Ter Bush, vice president and managing director, Tax and Accounting, LexisNexis. "Practice Insights are not simply a rehash of state tax code. The authors draw from their current work on the most complex state tax issues, so the guidance they provide is up-to-date and practical. This is another example of how LexisNexis gives tax professionals access to leading experts and opinions.” Written in a two-page, easy-to-read format that makes them convenient to consult, Practice Insights provide tips for dealing with complex issues, practice strategies, lessons, examples and common practice mistakes. Strategies are discussed from the perspective of the client and the IRS or state tax authority, with the risks and benefits of certain actions also presented. Mark Holcomb, partner, Holland & Knight and Practice Insights author for Florida said, "LexisNexis Practice Insights examine cutting-edge issues based on the experience of recognized SALT experts. The depth of analysis and breadth of issues addressed in each state is impressive.” Holcomb added, "While some products in the market largely restate the law, LexisNexis Practice Insights provide timely analysis, an experienced perspective and useful practice tips that will be helpful to even the seasoned tax professional.” In addition, exclusive Practice Insights signal icons at the top of the report help streamline tax research by identifying timing issues and alerting the user to pending deadlines, splits in authority and drafting tips. They also offer signs that highlight cost and time-saving methods to avoid tax penalties and deal efficiently and effectively with complicated tax issues. The addition of LexisNexis Practice Insights complements Tax Center’s expansive content from leading tax publishers and the ability to conduct a single search across content from CCH®, BNA®, Tax Analysts®, Kleinrock, Matthew Bender®, LexisNexis® and other sources. LexisNexis Tax Center provides a combination of premium information unavailable from any other provider and was introduced in April. Delivering Deeper Insight and Analysis Practice Insights support Tax Center’s ability to offer practical insight and analysis from industry experts in addition to a blend of content that only LexisNexis provides. The exclusive insight and analysis offered by Tax Center is one of its key marketplace differentiators and is exemplified in several product features: Shepard’s Signal indicators – Offers tax practitioners a quick and easy visual reading of the Revenue rulings, Private Letter Rulings, Revenue Procedures and case law to help users determine if points of law and rulings are still valid. LexisNexis® Company and Industry Dossier – Reports offer insights into the factors that drive growth as well as business transactions that could have potential tax implications, which are useful when trying to expand business with an existing client or prospecting for new clients. Tax Analysts – Tax professionals worldwide depend on Tax Analysts for up-to-date and comprehensive tax news, analysis and commentary across a wide variety of federal, state and international tax topics. LexisNexis and Tax Analysts have an exclusive arrangement to provide a variety of Tax Analysts’ tax materials to LexisNexis subscribers. Eric Chan, tax manager at SEI and a LexisNexis customer said, "We like the idea of having one site to access all research tools, and Shepard’s on Tax Center helps us to verify the validity of our research. We don’t want to cite something that has already been superseded, and the Shepard’s function saves us time by verifying the validity of a citation.” A variety of LexisNexis Tax Center packages are available, each specifically designed for different tax practices. There are base packages with federal and state information that most practitioners need, as well as add-ons for specialized practice areas such as business planning and international taxation. LexisNexis Tax Center, named by CPA Magazine as one the Top Five "Best of Tax Research Products 2006,” is available now. Please visit www.lexisnexis.com/taxcenterpr5 for more information.
