MeadWestvaco Announces Jason Thompson as Director, Investor Relations

Mr. Thompson joins MeadWestvaco from The Abernathy MacGregorGroup, a leading national corporate and investor communicationsconsultancy, where he served as managing director. While at AbernathyMacGregor, he directed investor and public relations programs forpublic and private companies, including Aspen Insurance HoldingsLimited, Ternium S.A. and The International Securities Exchange, andmanaged high-profile transactions and executed over 30 initial publicofferings of stock.

Mr. Thompson replaces Mark Pomerleau, who is retiring from thecompany at the end of June after 26 years. Mr. Pomerleau began hiscareer with The Mead Corp. in 1980 as manager of corporatecommunications. During his career, he held a variety of positions inthe company's operating divisions and corporate departments includingmanager of business analysis and director of government affairs. In1993, he became director of investor relations for The Mead Corp., andcontinued in this role for MeadWestvaco Corp. following the merger ofMead and Westvaco in 2002.

Prior to The Abernathy MacGregor Group, Mr. Thompson worked forinvestor relations firm Lippert/Heilshorn Associates where he managedinvestor-targeted marketing activities and quarterly earningsreporting for small- and mid-cap public companies.
