MetLife Inc. Announces 100% Rise In Q3 Earnings

(RTTNews) - MetLife Inc. (MET) reported a profit for its third quarter that rose compared to the same period last year.

The company said its bottom line totaled $1.42 billion, or $1.28 per share. This was higher than $0.71 billion, or $0.62 per share, in last year's third quarter.

Analysts had expected the company to earn $1.14 per share, according figures compiled by Thomson Reuters. Analysts' estimates typically exclude special items.

The company said revenue for the quarter rose 0.8% to $18.11 billion. This was up from $17.97 billion last year.
