MetLife Inc. Announces 13% Retreat In Q4 Bottom Line

(RTTNews) - MetLife Inc. (MET) revealed a profit for fourth quarter that retreated compared to the same period last year.

The company said its profit came in at $1.38 billion, or $1.23 per share. This was down from $1.58 billion, or $1.38 per share, in last year's fourth quarter.

Analysts had expected the company to earn $1.36 per share, according figures compiled by Thomson Reuters. Analysts' estimates typically exclude special items.

The company said revenue for the quarter fell 6.2% to $17.11 billion. This was down from $18.25 billion last year.
