Moody’s upgrades Aktia Bank’s deposit and senior unsecured ratings to A1, stable outlook

Moody’s Investors Service has upgraded the long- and short-term deposit ratings of Aktia Bank to A1/P-1 from A3/P-2 and the long-term senior unsecured rating to A1 from A3. The baseline credit assessment (BCA) was upgraded to a3. Furthermore, the foreign and local currency counterparty risk ratings (CRR) were upgraded to Aa3/P-1, and the long- and short-term counterparty risk (CR) assessments were upgraded to Aa3(cr)/P-1(cr). The outlook on the long-term deposit and senior ratings was changed to stable from positive.

According to Moody´s the primary driver of the rating upgrade is the consistent improvement in Aktia Bank’s standalone financial performance over the last two years, including a successful diversification of the bank’s income mix, through the expansion of its asset management business.

- The rating improvement reflects the work we have done to shift the income mix more towards Asset Management as well as to improve the cost efficiency through reorganization of operations and cost restructuring, says Outi Henriksson, CFO.
