NiSource Inc. Announces 33% Retreat In Q1 Bottom Line

(RTTNews) - NiSource Inc. (NI) revealed a profit for first quarter that dropped compared to the same period last year.

The company said its bottom line totaled $179.7 million, or $0.56 per share. This was lower than $268.4 million, or $0.85 per share, in last year's first quarter.

Analysts had expected the company to earn $0.59 per share, according figures compiled by Thomson Reuters. Analysts' estimates typically exclude special items.

The company said revenue for the quarter fell 6.4% to $940.1 million. This was down from $1004.0 million last year.
