Online Survey Regarding Tobacco Use in Youth with Autism - Volunteers Needed (Opportunity to Win $50 Gift Card)
MELBOURNE, Fla., Nov. 10, 2018 /PRNewswire-PRWeb/ -- Researchers at Florida Tech are currently seeking children and their parent to participate in an online survey examining tobacco and e-cigarette use in youth with autism. If you or someone you know is eligible, please consider participating and sharing this survey.
The purpose of this study is to better understand beliefs and intentions of children with developmental delays towards tobacco use. Findings from the survey will be used to expand and improve interventions aimed at decreasing tobacco use and use of e-cigarettes in high risk populations. You are encouraged to participate if your child has ASD, your child is between the ages of 10 and 17, and if your child has a reading comprehension equivalent to 5th grade.
There are 2 surveys in this study: a parent survey and a child survey. The parent must begin the parent survey first, which will then allow access to the child survey upon completion. The surveys should take approximately 20 minutes to complete (10 minutes each). You and your child's participation is entirely confidential and we are not requesting any information that could be used to identify you or your family.
To thank you for your participation, you will be entered into a raffle for the chance to win one $50 gift card. Both parent and child must complete the surveys to be eligible. You and your child may refuse to answer any questions that you wish. You will receive instructions on how to enter the drawing once the survey is complete. We have also compiled a Resource Guide to web sites and books for parents to aid in talking with your child about the dangers of tobacco use. You can download the resource guide after completing the survey.
If you are willing to participate, please use the link below to begin the survey. This study has been reviewed and approved by the Human Research Institutional Review Board at Florida Tech.
