Peter Lichtenthal Appointed Global General Manager of M-A-C

The Estee Lauder Companies Inc. (NYSE: EL) todayannounced the promotion of Peter Lichtenthal, Senior Vice President ofGlobal Marketing, Estee Lauder, to Global General Manager of M-A-C,effective August 15, 2005. Peter will report directly to John Demsey,who continues to oversee M-A-C as well as lead the Estee Lauderbrand.

"Peter has extraordinary product marketing skills and generalmanagement skills, as well as a deep understanding of the industry andthe retail environment. These qualities, along with his globalperspective, will be tremendously valuable as M-A-C seeks to buildits business in strategic growth markets around the world," statedJohn Demsey.

Peter has held the position of Senior Vice President of GlobalMarketing, Estee Lauder, since 2001. He joined The Estee LauderCompanies in 1989 as Executive Director of U.S. Skincare Marketing forthe Estee Lauder brand and was promoted to Vice President of U.S.Fragrance Marketing in 1994. In 1999, Peter was appointed VicePresident/General Manager of Estee Lauder International.
