Philips Introduces New IntelliVue Telemetry System Providing Advanced
Business Editors
ANDOVER, Mass.--(BUSINESS WIRE)--May 12, 2005--Royal Philips Electronics (NYSE: PHG, AEX: PHI) today announced its new IntelliVue Telemetry System featuring bidirectional communication between patient-worn transceivers and bedside monitors, and a central station with remote clinician access. Part of Philips proven IntelliVue patient monitoring portfolio, the new telemetry system uses cellular technology to ensure seamless information management and more flexible patient monitoring-- all designed to increase clinical efficiency and improve patient outcomes.
"The Philips IntelliVue Telemetry System was designed with patients, clinicians and hospital administrators in mind," said David Russell, vice president, global marketing, patient monitoring for Philips Medical Systems. "It offers a wider range of solutions that enhance clinical data accessibility and improve a care team's efficiency. Lightweight wireless transceivers allow patients to walk around or rest in bed comfortably while being monitored. Clinicians can access powerful, user-friendly clinical decision support tools on the IntelliVue Information Center. Additionally, administrators recognize the value of built-in, scalable reporting tools that can be easily integrated with existing information systems. Overall, the IntelliVue Telemetry System is designed to meet the needs of today's wireless, digital hospital," said Russell.
The IntelliVue Telemetry System, which operates in the protected 1.4 GHz Wireless Medical Telemetry Service (WMTS) band, coexists with Philips digital telemetry systems, wireless bedside and transport monitors, and even a hospital's own WiFi systems. The IntelliVue Telemetry System features Smart-Hopping technology to avoid interference and seek out the strongest available signal for seamless data transmission as patients roam within the hospital.
Currently, Philips patient monitoring systems has the largest installed-base in top U.S. hospitals as ranked by U.S. News and World Report. More U.S. hospitals use Philips telemetry systems than any other telemetry system, and Philips introduction of the new IntelliVue Telemetry System will further reinforce the company's leadership position in patient monitoring.
Philips also announced new updates to its IntelliVue Information Center and enhancements to Philips Telemetry System transmitters. The newest release of the IntelliVue Information Center supports flexible wired/wireless access and integration with existing Philips telemetry solutions. Lighter and smaller transmitters enhance the capabilities of the existing Philips Telemetry Systems. All Philips telemetry solutions can coexist in the same space without interference, making it possible for hospitals to phase their transition between systems.
