Quest Software Selected to Support Transportation Security Administration's Enterprise Resource Management Planning Systems Unisys Leverages Quest Solutions for Application and Database Management Under ITMS Contract
Quest Software Inc. (Nasdaq:QSFT), a leading provider of application, database and Windows management solutions, announced today that Unisys Corp. has selected Quest's application and database management solutions for Oracle to proactively plan, predict and control service level agreements for both Oracle and custom J2EE Web applications for the Transportation Security Administration (TSA) under the Information Technology Managed Services (ITMS) contract.
Unisys will use Quest Foglight(R), Quest Central(R) for Oracle and Quest JProbe(R) Suite to help detect, diagnose and resolve performance issues within the TSA enterprise before they impact end users. Quest solutions will work to improve the performance of the major database, application and server components of the TSA network to include its 30 Oracle database instances, Oracle 9iAS Web servers as well as the enterprise's underlying Java and SQL code. Quest Central for Oracle will help to ensure the availability of TSA's Oracle e-Business Customer Relationship Management (CRM) applications by providing a comprehensive solution to improve database performance, PL/SQL performance and database administrator productivity. Additionally, Unisys will use the JProbe Suite during quality assurance (QA) testing to tune the Java code that sits on TSA servers.
The ITMS contract was established to quickly, efficiently, effectively and economically provide, deploy and maintain a "best in class" IT-managed and secure infrastructure to support the Office of the Chief Information Officer in the definition, development, transition/deployment/implementation and institutionalization of a sound IT infrastructure that enables TSA employees and security systems to successfully achieve TSA's mission goals and objectives.
"Quest Software enables Unisys to deliver and maintain high quality application services to TSA," said Mike Hatcher, partner and ITMS program executive, Unisys Global Public Sector. "Quest enables us to quickly identify bottlenecks in real time, which is crucial to providing a mission-critical customer like TSA with optimum application performance, reliability, and availability."
"Unisys has realized the benefit of accelerated deployment and stellar system performance and availability with Quest Software," said Paul Garver, vice president of Public Sector, Quest Software. "We are proud to work with Unisys on this effort that is so critical to the security of the technology infrastructure for the nation's transportation system."
Quest Software has more than 700,000 government end users including the Department of State, U.S. Army, Department of Agriculture and the Navy Marine Corps Intranet (NMCI).
