Schilling Robotics Receives Order for Two Next-Generation HD™ ROVs
Schilling Robotics, LLC, experts in subsea systems, announced today the order for two (2) of its next-generation Heavy-Duty™ (HD™) Remotely Operated Vehicles (ROVs). The first vehicle is due to be delivered to the customer in August 2010 and the second in October 2010.
Schilling’s introduction of the 125hp HD™ ROV is designed and optimized for the field support and drill support markets. The HD™ ROV and its supporting system are an ideal complement to the current UHD™ system. The more compact vehicle, umbilical, and launch and recovery system (LARS) provides a more strategic footprint to take up less deck space, while performing operations that are increasingly in demand.
"Schilling’s core philosophy is to make our customers successful in all of their markets, and our HD™ system supports Schilling’s position as a leader in the ROV industry through a growing subsea portfolio. The ease of system maintainability translates to high reliability for our customers,” states Tyler Schilling, Chief Executive Officer for Schilling Robotics.
The installed infrastructure on the seafloor has increased dramatically, and it all has to be inspected on a routine basis. Yet most of the ROVs built in the last several years are geared to the offshore construction market. The HD™ is responding to increasing demand from international operators, which will be utilizing many more deepwater support vessels in coming years.
