Sysco Reports Q4 Adj. EPS Of $0.50 - Quick Facts

(RTTNews) - Sysco Corp. (SYY) reported that its fourth-quarter net earnings decreased to $254.17 million or $0.43 per share from $283.04 million or $0.47 per share, last year. Adjusted earnings per share was $0.50, for the quarter.

On average, 12 analysts polled by Thomson Reuters expected the company to report profit per share of $0.50 for the quarter. Analysts' estimates typically exclude special items.

Sales were $12.29 billion, an increase of 5.9% from $11.60 billion in the fourth quarter of prior year. Analysts expected revenue of $12.14 billion for the quarter.

Gross profit for the fourth quarter was $2.2 billion, an increase of 4.0% compared to the prior year. Operating expenses in the fourth quarter increased $119 million, or 7.4%, compared to the prior year period, including a $41 million increase in certain items, which mainly related to merger and integration planning costs.
