The Cleveland Clinic Foundation Seamlessly Transitions Clinical Interfaces to SeeBeyond ICAN 5 Platform New Platform Enables Faster Integration of Clinical Applications While Lowering TCO
SeeBeyond (Nasdaq: SBYN), provider of the world's first fully Integrated Composite Application Network (ICAN) suite for advanced integration and composite application solutions, today announced that the Cleveland Clinic Foundation (CCF), a world leader in providing patients with excellence in all aspects of their healthcare, has successfully migrated its enterprise application integration (EAI) infrastructure to the SeeBeyond ICAN 5 platform. This implementation is the culmination of a transition to SeeBeyond's flagship integration platform, establishing the foundation for CCF to take full advantage of the SeeBeyond ICAN 5 Suite of solutions to further enhance the delivery of patient care data over a robust and solid integration foundation.
Focused on improving the seamless flow of health-critical information to enhance patient service and satisfaction, CCF has been a SeeBeyond customer since 1993. Since that time, CCF has implemented over 750 clinical interfaces to approximately 250 applications throughout 12 hospitals that process more than 4.7 million transactions per day. Well over half of these interfaces were managed with SeeBeyond's previous generation integration tools. With the release of SeeBeyond ICAN 5, CCF was interested in taking advantage of the suite's new capabilities; however, CCF was sensitive to taking on any unnecessary risks. Upon learning of SeeBeyond's upgrade facilities to enable a rapid and cost effective upgrade to ICAN 5, CCF decided to move forward.
SeeBeyond provides customers with the ability to rapidly take advantage of the new capabilities offered by the latest version of its software suite as well as the ability to continue leveraging existing investments in previous versions of the software for years to come - all without taking on the burden or risk of a costly conversion process. As a result, this upgrade approach has allowed CCF to seamlessly move its existing platform implementation to the latest version of the SeeBeyond eGate(TM) Integrator 5 with minimal risk and disruption to ongoing business processes. In addition, CCF is now able to take advantage of eGate Integrator's native J2EE environment, the first and only J2EE-certified integration platform to support native operation of its integration technology over third-party J2EE application servers. In addition, it provides CCF with enterprise-scale integration change management tools, significantly lowering Total Cost of Ownership (TCO).
"With so many systems in place that trusted our ability to integrate clinical orders and results, the move to SeeBeyond ICAN 5 involved mission critical business applications," said Albert Edwards, Director, Office of Clinical Integration & Interfaces, Cleveland Clinic Health System. "Despite our initial concerns, the combination of readily available and proven migration tools, proactive planning, and excellent response from the SeeBeyond Professional Services & Support organizations has allowed our integration team to tackle a necessary and challenging project without adversely affecting patient safety or the integrity of Cleveland Clinic."
"SeeBeyond has a rich history and perspective in the healthcare sector as well as a vested interest in providing the right technology and solutions for providers, insurers, HMOs and physicians' networks," said Wayne Owens, General Manager of Healthcare for SeeBeyond. "CCF's success in migrating to our latest generation platform underscores our commitment to making a difference in helping healthcare organizations meet ever-changing regulatory requirements, provide increased patient safety, and enhanced information distribution while bridging gaps between systems, departments, businesses and geographies. We are confident the lessons learned from this partnership will establish a roadmap for other hospitals to transition their existing interfaces to SeeBeyond ICAN 5."
