The One-Two Punch That Could Be Disastrous for the S&P 500 This Year

The S&P 500 (SNPINDEX: ^GSPC), which is by and large the best indicator of the strength of the overall stock market, is doing well this year. It's up around 8%, which is impressive given that investors may have expected a slowdown, given how hot the index has been in recent years. Since 2023, it has now rallied 93%. There is, however, cause for concern. There are signs the economy isn't doing that well. Plus, with the conflict in the Middle East still ongoing, there's the potential that things could get even worse as the year goes on.
